Each year the Northern Power Women Awards create a hall of role models from across the North. But why are role models so important when it comes to creating change?

At each Northern Power Women awards individuals and organisations who are working tirelessly to create positive and lasting change to their communities are spotlighted and celebrated. Having reached over 25million impressions on social media at last year’s awards, it is clear how great a platform these awards are for promoting a PoWErful image of leadership.

“The awards broaden the reach and impact of these role models to outside of their immediate circle. That might include people in senior positions in other organisations who are inspired to do something similar. It is a really powerful force for spotlighting the role models themselves” — Hilary Heap, Partner at EY

With this platform, the role models amongst our winners, those on the shortlist, on the PoWEr and Future Lists and those in the room on the night are able to inspire and motivate even more people to use their Power for good. Having their stories and successes amplified sends a message to those who might be going through similar challenges, and highlights the many different paths to success that are available to us all.

In what is now our 6th year of hosting the Northern Power Women Awards, I have seen first hand the impact that this event can have. Not only on those who win, and the boost it gives their confidence, but to the people who didn’t know who they were before the night started. We’ve got so much incredible talent to offer from across the North, the amazing work is already being done. All we do is amplify and showcase it” — Simone Roche MBE

If you want to show some appreciation to the role models in your life, join in the conversation on social media by using the hashtags #NPWAwards and #WeArePoWEr
